Three Blind Mice (no relation or nothing to do at all with the nursery rhyme)

Three Blind Mice (no relation or nothing to do at all with the nursery rhyme)

“three blind mice”,

childhood memory of a nursery rhyme

’bout Queen Mary not being nice

executing bishops in thine.

“three blind mice”, at present time

grown – up memory of friendships for long

’bout moms being nice waiting in line

for kids who may come along.

“three blind mice”, somehow came

in the afternoon over coffee in a bench

whimsical thought, though lame

makes up the day flow in trench.

“three blind mice”, a momentary story

of grown – ups filled with glory.

P.S.

It has been a while since i quit my job… actually a very long while. If you have been following me, by now you are still wondering who I am, what i do…Okay, let me tell you that i used to be a College professor; and that i had to stop working to become a full time mother to my four beautiful daughters. I hope this makes you guys happy.

The “three blind mice”, was “born” one fateful afternoon when i practically just hit off a conversation with two other mothers who were also waiting for their children.  I must say i have known them for sometime..but we never really went more than the usual “hi”  and “hello”; until of course that afternoon….and the rest they say is history.

It is such a joy to finally be able to see people around and do the occasional “no- nonsense” conversation. We would wait for our kids in the afternoon and we would of course talk about anything under the sun. What is so good about our conversation is the fact that for along while now, we never really talk about “problems” at home of some sort, which is actually wonderful.

Sometimes, the most annoying part of having friends around is that you get together and talk about problems, worries and or worst other people’s lives.

One afternoon, my second child saw us waiting and eventually she said “you’re like the three blind mice”…

This experience has brought me a whole new idea of life..of people..of events…of circumstances…

At some point we need a fresh new start. A new heart that is free from dross of the past, a heart that is fresh with enthusiasm and energy for the present as well as for the future.

New friends. New experience. New events.

That’s what we need. It steadies our heart. A steadfast heart is what we need to claim, a heart that does not waver about the truth or fall short when it comes to loving well. It will not allow the events of the past dominate our memory or chain our hearts to negative feelings.  It will fill our entire being with a fresh freedom so that we will walk the journey as well as possible.  It will create a vibrant spirit in us that carries hope, one that believes in love and in its glorious moments. A heart that will fill us with goodness.

So there goes the “three blind mice”. How about you? Have you met someone new today? Let me know.

That’s a huge sacrifice… I am just curious and I m sorry if its personal….but do you regret it? Like leaving such a proper job?

  2. An excellent post. Many years ago I left a much loved profession to focus on the needs of my children. It’s what we do…For me, looking way back…I can not even recall what I loved so much about it!

When we became mothers we will surely need to redirect our priorities… i salute women like you who managed to give up a much loved career to become full time moms..
