Lies

Give me time

Let me find the fountain of youth

Or maybe Neverland

So we can be kids again together

So that our happily ever after

Can last forever after

But you give me lies instead

So let me find the courage to let you go.

Scream

I’m screaming your name

In the middle of nowhere

At 2 am

In a raging thunderstorm

Our bodies are small

But our hearts are as big as the world

It’s big enough for everyone we love

Our days are dark

But our hearts are brighter than the sun

It’s enough for everyone.

Monday Morning Melts 3

In response to Monday Morning Challenge hosted by Rosema of A Reading Writer and Jade M. Wong.

Monday, Nov. 21: In Your Hands- Jason Mraz
But when you’re alone
You’re living in a world with only choices
And what I choose is you

Sleeping beauty

Slept peacefully

For a century, or so

She happily dreamt

But then one day

A kiss to her lips

Made her wake up

And that’s when reality blew up

Now it’s the same

The spell has been lifted

Our years of imagining

Are finally over

I chose you.

Your Turn:

Share a poem, story, or photo inspired by this week’s song-lyrics-prompt. You can share something you created that was inspired directly by the lyrics or you can share other pieces that coincidentally fit the prompt (for ex: an old piece of yours, or one of a beloved blogger – with permission).
Linkback/create a pingback to this post. Here is a quick tutorial on how to do it.
Tag your post with MondayMorningMelts, so we and your co-bloggers will be able to read/see your take on the prompt. Here’s how you create tags.
Most important of all, read and comment on your blogger friends (old and new found, we’ll never know).😉
There are no word limits and no restrictions except to stay true to the theme. Creating a brand new post in response to the prompt is also optional.

The goal isn’t to create new content, but rather to share pieces that melt the heart, tickle the soul, and brighten up a typically gloomy Monday. That’s why if you already have a piece that fits this week’s lyrics, or if you have a fellow blogger whose piece you want to share (with their permission), you are more than welcome to do so!

FUTURE PROMPTS

It came to our attention (thank you Sarah!) that we should reveal the prompts for the upcoming month to give all of you who would like to participate in time to prepare your submissions. Here they are for the rest of November:

Monday, Nov. 21: In Your Hands- Jason Mraz
But when you’re alone
You’re living in a world with only choices
And what I choose is you

Monday, Nov. 28: As Long As You Love Me – Backstreet Boys
Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine
I’m leavin’ my life in your hands
People say I’m crazy and that I am blind
Risking it all in a glance

Pain

Stealthy pains
Furtive lies
Secret implies

I am bleeding.
I am hurting.

From a distance

Day 19 Prompt: Pain Told Love by Tribe Society

Hurt

When it hurt
It hurt so bad.

So bad I can’t cry
I am numbed.

Till it shuttered
I died.

The pain goes in forgetting;
The meaning of hurting.

Day 18 Prompt: Meaning by Gavin DeGraw
november-notes-4

Brave

I chose not to be discouraged

and for once

I made a decision I didn’t regret

I chose not to be defeated

and I wasn’t

I won fair and square

and never once was I beaten again

I kept hoping

I kept believing

in happy endings that everyone

thought was overrated

Happy endings happen every day

the happiness ends when the faith

goes away

Happy endings are not what i

believe in

friends and family and miracles

that come my way

these are what saved my day

Day 17 prompt: Brave Enough by Lindsey Stirling and Christina Perri

november-notes-4

Memories

Memories make us human

But love makes being humanly bearable

There are always two sides to a nickel

There are typically six sides to a die

Life and love are always fickle

Has anyone ever wondered why?

Why we laugh so hard one minute

And then sob our souls dry right after

Why we brighten the sky like comets

Only to burn ourselves out then crumble to powder

Can God be so cruel to treat us

Like dolls in a playhouse and toys

Disposable things, mere surplus

Ignoring our pitifully imploring voice

I don’t think so, I refuse

To believe in things I’d long accepted

That the nature of man is always to lose

The few that they love then surely regret it.

Because there are two sides to a nickel

And each one’s role is badly needed

Joy and sorrow each have their own schedule

Sorrow makes us miss joy so

We won’t take it for granted

And like dice, you’ll never guess

What you’ll get, the possibilities

The Lord’s design do will impress

You’ll even marvel trivialities.

november-notes-4

Breathe

Breathe, I tell myself to breathe
I can’t afford to cry
In front of those who don’t know
The reason why

I lie

About how I feel.

Please don’t be real
Be a figment of my dreams
Don’t have a face

I lie

About what I see
Blinded by the chaos of this city.

Monday Morning Melts 2

I want this to be perfect

Am pretty sure it’s not

But either way, we’re here today

That’s already a lot

I want this to be flawless

I guess that won’t come true

But either way, we’re here this way

Am here for you.

The stadium lights are binding

We’re not supposed to be here

But still, we choose to stay and laugh and

run and go into hiding

The chances drop to zero

We’re quickly losing time

PROMPT: Love Me Now – John Legend

I don’t know who’s gonna kiss you when I’m gone

I know it’ll kill me when it’s over
I don’t wanna think about it, I want you to love me now

Your laughter

The texture of stringed beads…

an impression of something glinting in the light.

and the clanging sound of a knob being turned

Your laughter to me.
