Underneath the sea
are souls lost
tormented
and broken
Gone are the days
when they can come home
and feel the love
of a once golden promise
Now all they can do
is lament
wail
and yearn
as one long lost
and forgotten soul.
P.S
There has been some outraged in my home country about our young mariners who have sailed across the ocean and was never seen coming home. There are a lot of tell tales about this, but whatever the story behind, one thing is for sure; someone is weeping over a lost love one, a lost brother, a lost father, a lost friend and a lost hardworking citizen.
This poem is for all of them out there. .May they find peace knowing that they are loved and will never be forgotten.

This is sadly beautiful michs. I love the picture. Too apt for the words
Oh thank you..
😀💖
I feel that sadness of loss and broken promises in your poem. I’ve read that the largest export of the Philippines are its people. So many families apart from each other – very sad indeed!
That is true Irma..a very sad reality..☺
How heartwrenching it is Michnavs! Your words and the note below conveyed the pain directly into my heart. Such a sad reality for those who go into the sea and lose their lives.
Thank you 😊
Beautifully sad.
Thank you😊
your words matched the photo so well, sailors still trapped in their vessels
Its a heartbreaking story Gina..☺
my dad was a sailor and i know how my mum felt when he was away, we never knew if we would see him again.
Ohhhh it must have been very hard Gina…i heard from the news recently of a very young sailor who went missing….this is so sad..
yes, no closure is hard, I know this too well, the heart cannot align with the head.
A glorious tribute to those lost souls, my heart weeps …..
Oh thank you Ivor
Very powerful and emotional. I felt the words
Thank you😊
Such a poignant and beautiful poem Mich. My uncle died at sea off our coast when I was 5 years old. Sadly, many others have drowned since then. They are gone but not forgotten.
That should be the case Bridgid …gone but not forgotten.
Beautiful and sad, Mich!
Thanks Eugenia
Wonderful response using grief as the focus, a rich sadness to heed.

Your words offer a tribute and reminder.
I am glad you said that VJ..
You are most welcome.
I can relate to this. So many from my province have been lost to the sea and have never been found. My dad fished, every day, and I know we always worried until he returned. I love how you’ve captured this in verse.
Thank you..and i pray for your dad’s safety always…
You are kindly welcome. My dad passed a few years ago of natural causes but many here still go to sea.
🙇🙇🙇

It is indeed Miriam..
This is so heart wrenching!
Oh it is indeed 😊
I’ve only been on a cruise ship once for about a week.
I can’t imagine being a sea for months at a time for work or exploration.
A fitting tribute. May they all be remembered.
Thank you Jules😊😊
The lamentations of the dead. Beautifully written Mich.
