Ode to my Country

Land of the rising sun
Pearl of the orient sea
Where have all these gone?
Oh, dear, we cannot see.

Yours is an uphill battle
Of centuries colonization
But you stood as you struggle
Winning was a confirmation.

You are now being mocked
As an old lady can’t hardly step up
But you continue the long walk
Back to where they will look you up

Land of the rising sun pearl of the orient sea, you will again be.

I think this applies to many countries – politics worldwide seem to have tarnished nations.

I agree… politics often mar the beauty of both the country and the majority of the people who don’t always get a say in their lives.

  12. Beautiful poem Mich, So many countries now not as they once were, as the people too seem to forget their own pride in their once proud nations around the world..
I see this world crumbling piece by piece.. I live in hope young vibrant minds may rebuild our world into the Dreams we all once held, yet so easily we all seem to forget..

    Much love you way. ❤
