Maya
you playfully flap
your tiny little wings
on top of my window
every morning, you chirp
songs I can’t sing
you call out your friends
and gather in my garden,
every afternoon
you made my flowers
smile with your joyful
chirping and quirky dancing
you made your
few final despairing flaps
higher and higher
as you hear my dog barking
your friends would
follow thereafter
now I flew myself away
away from the home
we used to be
I wonder if you are still there
every morning
joyfully flapping your wings
chirping and dancing
oh, how I miss you
my tiny little friend
I hope you visit me soon
when I make my homecoming
after COVID 19 bid adieu
Note:
The term Maya refers to a folk taxon often used in the Philippines to refer to a variety of small, commonly observed passerine birds, including several sparrows, finches, and munias.

These little birds are so cute Kate when they sing in chorus they make a lovely melody and i recently learned that most of they build their nests on our roof top.
But they are scared of my dogs…when they are in my garden i keep the dogs away from them.

oh how lovely Mich to have them nesting right there … yes safer to keep your dogs away 🙂

Nature is keeping a lot of people company and bringing some calm these days.
We see so many birds and creatures on our walks…the other day we saw a bunny. 🙂
