My Dear Summer, Rain and Goodbye #whatdoyousee

Oh, my dear summer
and rain
and goodbye
why did you conspire
to break my heart
altogether at once
why do I have to remember
you both, as
the happiest
and the saddest
memory
like a photograph
capturing
every smile
not knowing
the loneliness
behind
the gloomy feeling
after each radiant
and charming smile
my dearest summer, rain
and goodbye please cease
to connive and stop breaking my heart
altogether, at once

My Silver and Gold #silver#writephoto

silver and gold

glittering colors of

precious gems

mostly loved

by  women

of grace and power

but what are your silver and gold

in life and in all that you have?

my silver and gold

are the stories I tell

the poetry I write

inspired by nature’s

everlasting beauty and kindness

to humanity as it offers

wondrous gifts of

everlasting and magnificent

sight to behold

my silver and gold

are the people I love

people I care and people

I cherish

they make my life

shining

brilliantly

amidst

darkness and loneliness

and the greatest of these silver and gold

is non-other than

to be loved by you

Barong Tagalog (a repost)

I heard the news of you leaving as someone from the other line was sobbing, crying, weeping. “He’s gone”, was all I can hear. I wept, I cried ’till I can’t cry anymore.

It was a warm summer morning.

You left without saying goodbye. Without notice. It broke my heart in pieces, I could die.

I told myself I’ll never go far away from you again, but what’s the point?

I was wounded, helpless, and even when far away an interrupted cry could be heard as I lament in desperation.

Distance is killing me.

The sun was shining but the rain came pouring when I flew back home to bid my goodbye.

You were smiling. You felt rested. And you look handsome as ever. I smiled back looking at you as I said “your barong Tagalog looks perfect on you”. I blew you a kiss like I used to.

I was ushered away, away from your side.

Note:  The Barong Tagalog, more commonly known as simply barong (and occasionally called baro), is an embroidered formal shirt and considered the national dress of the Philippines.
In Filipino culture it is a common formal attire

I Told You So

IMG-cd93d28f917007638de9f5d9b74c5921-V

of all the sayings there is,

the one my cool dad

taught me first, tops my list

“all our dreams can come true,

if we have the courage to pursue them”

Walt Disney was his favorite

and dad is my favorite too

that made me dream the grandest dreams

and believe in happily- ever- after

mom is fine with that,

she always says, but I doubt so

‘cos she’d argue, as Forest Gump

famously said ” life is like a box

of chocolates, you never know

what you’re gonna get”

so hard work, dedication

and perseverance were the qualities

she instilled, for we never knew

what happens next

but we can always prepare

she constantly insists

by now you know

my parents were two

opposing individuals

made one, by love

for they both believe

in what Victor Hugo said

“the greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves”

ours was a story of a life lived well

in love and compassion;

in kindness and generosity

as one loving family

we believe in an old

saying that goes

“I shall pass this way but once;

any good, therefore, that I can do

or any kindness that I can show

to any human being, let me do it now

let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again”, we believe

that in every moment,

every interaction, every opportunity

there is a chance to do good

it’s all about the little ways we can show kindness, it’s the tiny, seemingly

insignificant things that

we can do to help someone else

that matters

you don’t have to spend money

or even give all your time,

you just need to act

in a good and kind nature

with a heart full of gratitude

with love and sincerity

An Angel and the Devil in Disguise #whatdoyousee

she told of a tale

in a faraway castle

’bout a damsel, in distress

how she loved him,

fell for his demons first

and vowed to forever

love ’till eternity

but he was his devil

she gave him reasons

to wanna have a halo

instead of a horn

he made her

want to see heaven

instead of hell

and oh,

how she affects his soul

she loves him unconditionally

and washed away the blood

of evil on him

her voice was soothing

more tempting than

a million passionate kisses

and her touch was softer than

a light feathered cotton

he could walk throughout of hell

and be the angel

he so long desired

will good prevail

or will love ever

be greater

than any evil

there is

such was her story

’bout an angel and

a devil in disguise

in a faraway land

where no man

can find

Soar Like an Eagle #soar#writephoto

you told me
to soar like
an eagle
aim high
and fly
dream the biggest
and reach for the skies
oh, you said
remember, it won’t
be that simple
nor easy
you taught me
life lessons as an eagle
learns to fly
they fly alone or at least
with their kind
and in life
find people
who think like you
dream, grow together
never waste time with naysayers
concentrate
focus
as eagles do
embrace challenges
make sure to welcome
every storm
as eagles do
for storms lift them above the clouds
where they can rest their wings
and become stronger

and because of you
I, now soar higher
above the clouds
better
stronger
as eagles
do

Happy Father’s day Dad, wherever you are❤❤❤

Oh, Dear One

Oh, Dear One

your brilliance is undeniable
like a fine diamond
with its great brightness
and luster
yours is a
conspicuous talent
and excellent
mental ability
but why, oh dear
did you let
the crooked
system
take away
the brilliance
in you
please my dear
take a pause
silence your heart
and remember
who you
really are

(Bali, 2019)

do you remember your first love?

’twas one of the happiest

memories of your life

I bet, makes your young heart

giggle

with gladness

it feels like that,

to dream, to ride a wave

of getting up on a surfboard

and let yourself slide on a wave

something that will always be a dream

the kind of dream that makes

you leap with joy

and hop with excitement

do you remember how your heart

was broken, for the first time?

’twas one of the saddest

memories of your life

I bet, the thought of losing

makes your young heart struggle

in pain and doubt

it feels like that,

to just dream,

to ride a wave

indescribable feeling

of gliding across the water

just like your first love

I too fell in love

for the first time

of riding a wave

on a beautiful summer day

upon a blue sky blending

in with the ocean

just as many first loves

turn into many first heartaches

my heart too was broken,

for the first time

Bright Lights #whatdoyousee

why is it my love that

when I look at you

I see light,

like I’ve never seen

it before

why is it my love that

my world

has turned into blue

as I hold your hands

dearly and gently

in the silence

of my dreams

and my muted

memories

where

are all

the bright

lights

my love?
