I Love You, At First

I Love You, At First

you walked past by me wearing a dashing smile
with the sun so hot and up, but the air was cool
could it be, because of your easy-breezy presence, I was beguiled?
or was it just me feeling the numbness of my senses I could drool?

your smile I can’t forget and your laughter I can’t resist
baby take me in your arms and hold me all the time
‘cos I don’t wanna live another day without you, I insist
please kiss me, undress me, make me yours
it’s not a crime

the next thing they knew you and I were inseparable,  profoundly connected
we were like two people beating in perfect harmony as one
the world was only ours to live and friends  said “it’s expected”
‘cos even without a word the universe will conspire to agree, “it’s done”

it feels like Christmas with you beside me all the time
the joys and laughter we share each day long
makes it always look like a holiday season perfect anytime
the sweet little nothings make our bond greater and strong

now I keep thinking of you and what to do with our life as we kissed
for there is so much forever waiting for my dear, a forever in time
‘cos I don’t wanna live another day without you, I insist
please kiss me, undress me, make me yours
it’s not a crime

it’s been many years and many Christmases, my dear
but time has not robbed my feelings for you, I still love you tight
it will forever be like that, oh so hot but cool morning, I swear

the first time I laid eyes on you, I knew I loved you

Your Eyes

I looked   closely
steadily into your eyes
wanting to see
the smile
of hope
of love
of compassion
of kindness
the smile that can only be seen
through your eyes
as your beautiful lips
with perfect white teeth
that used to reveal your
truest emotions
is now hidden,
covered
for how long
we don’t know
no one can tell
so meantime,
let me gazed through
your soul
through its window
your eyes
that will now bear the weight
of all your joys and sorrows
of all your successes and failures
for in your eyes
you smile

I Remember You

’twas not so long ago
I came to know you
over exchange of
small talks and “hi” and “hello”
how long has it been?
I can’t even remember then
but I remember you in days
when I’ve run out of things to do
and my muse is in an ultimate unannounced break
I remember you over galleries of photographs
and stunning images of people, of nature,
of even the most insignificant photo
I remember you over wonderful thoughts
about life and motherhood
about living the daily extraordinarily
I remember you
and you reminded me of a
wonderful and brilliant poet, Helene
who’s soul have joined the rest of the lovely angels
and magnificent minds and thinkers
of writers and poets
who have gone ahead of us
in heaven
and so today
I am pretty sure
Helene is up there waving
and smiling as she warmly joins me
in saying “happy birthday, dear Sadje”
I remember you
always

Six Feet Apart- a diamond etheree

For Kate’s Friday Fun – Social Distancing

Friday Fun – social distancing

I
woke up
bewildered,
baffled, perplexed
upon the world and
beyond, the love we knew
is to hug,  touch lovingly
lean in, hold and make eye contact
a little bit closer builds affection
fondness, attachment, and besottedness
love, in itself, is already tricky
actions, endearments, simplify it
how is love now? six feet apart?
like the Hollywood movie?
will meter stick be part
along with the mask
new normal fad
I love you, six
feet away
dear?

How Much More?

you lost your voice

in the roaring thunder

of his growing ego

as you lost your consciousness

under his vicious hands.

how much more of that sound do you need to bear,

deaf in the truth of torture and agony?

you lost your mind

with every scornful tone

from the blast

of his nasty outrage

and abomination.

how much more of the mockery do you need to take,

to run away and seek help?

you lost your glow

for every word

he utters is a knife

that cuts off the very essence

of your being

how much more of that smile will you hold,

to unfold the truth that you are suffering silently?

P.S

A poem included in my book “After Rain Skies”. I cannot think of any other piece fitted to the photo of Sadje for this week’s WDY, but this one. https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2020/11/16/what-do-you-see-56-16-november-2020/

The agony, the pain, the hurt and the hopelessness of an abused woman is so evident … so much so that it transcends beyond the photograph.

Let this be a reminder … a reminder to take part and help stop the culture of abuse and violence.

Still

eight months in isolation
eight months
and still counting
it wasn’t easy
never easy at all
’twas scary
’twas blurry
it felt like standing on the edge
you have no way to go
no chance to run
no place to hide
no one to lean on
and you are left
with no one and nothing
nothing
but the edge
so you learn to keep still
keep still
amidst chaos and turmoil
all through the roaring thunder
and all through the rising tide
keep still
hold on
focus
then
hush now

In Memory

“In Memory”

in memory of the woman

who screams silently

the secrets of her soul

may she rest in peace

with her lost words

and intimate beauty

Coming home should be the safest thing we ever do in this life. Where we lay our heads at night should be where monsters will not reach us. And yet, so many find themselves making homes with monsters instead. This is a compilation of true and inspiring stories of abuse and violence in prose and poetry.
