Lichen

and we are back to square one
back to how it all started
just like lichen
simple symbiotic relationship
I am the fungus
and you are
the photosynthetic organism
I grow where you are
I stay where you are
and you, enjoys
the  presence of a fungus
just like that
nothing more
nothing less
at your own convenience
just like how lichen was discovered;
’twas the right hypothesis at a wrong time.

  9. πŸ™‚ Wonderful poem, SweetMich! Such a great analogy of love and lichen.
It’s always interesting to see the similarities AND the differences between those who love each other. πŸ™‚ Some love-pairs might seem odd to another person yet they work out beautifully. πŸ™‚
I love love and I like lichen! πŸ˜‰ HA! πŸ˜€
    (((HUGS)))
PS…your poem reminds me of one of my fav quotes:
“I want to stay a while, wrapped in silence, the way the trees and rocks and the ground beneath my feet are wrapped in moss and ivy and soft, green lichen.” – Cathy Cassidy
