we fell in love when snail mails were all that we ever got
couple it with roses and chocolates, makes love
so endearing, so sweet
so charming, so honest
so pure, so passionate
we fell in love when snail mails were all that we ever got
sent through the post office or via a good old friend
pair it with special instructions
not to open nor to drop
and take extra care ’till you get
makes love exceptional and oh, so real
we fell in love when snail mails were all that we ever got
but ours my dear, were never sent through
the post office or via a good old friend
ours was written and sent right in
the comfort of an old ugly bench
the solitary observer of our love
right there and then
we fell in love when snail mails were all that we ever got
we exchanged verses of love
those verses of love, we later realized
were the single lonesome spectator
of our blissful love, yet unspoken
bleeding through my pen and paper
shattering between your replies
we fell in love when snail mails were all that we ever got
and who would have thought our love would ever endure
amongst the pages of wringing papers
and in between soaking lines
your passion to love is what kept it alive
and my desire to be loved is what kept it thriving
we fell in love when snail mails were all that we ever got
and who would have thought our love would ever endure
the birth of emails and smart phones
facebook and instagram
these brand new lonesome spectators
of our blissful love

These were real love letters compared to the cold emails and messages sent electronically. Snail Mails were full of real passion the notelets held the passion within the pages and lovingly put in an envelop.

I fell in love during the electronic age. I have a couple cards Wrangler has gave me over the years that I saved that melt my heart. I forgot about these until reading your poem. When I get home I will be digging them out to look through. Thank you for the reminder.
When Wrangler was out on the road alone and I still worked a traditional job I would slip little notes in his jean pockets when I packed his bag. Now I never take the time if I am home a week without him. Instead I text him something every morning.

Beautiful, Mich 🙂 We miss so much now we no longer pen our words on paper. A text or email is no substitute for a handwritten love note *sigh*.

This is heart-touching, Mich! 🙂 Beautiful, honest, romantic, relatable to all of us! 🙂
Yes, the ways we express love has changed drastically over the decades…but the important thing is we keep expressing it!
I still love the handwritten love notes, cards, and letters bestest. 😉 (I have a huge box full of them from our dating years and through the married years…some of the best ones he’s written on post-it notes and left in surprising places for me to find! 😉 🙂 )

Oh, Mich, how lovely and romantic. I remember when Pen Pals were all the rage and now there is a minor resurgence in trying to get folks to write to shut-ins. Our paper had a request for holiday cards for elders at various retirement communities. Though there will be no replies. One can only hope some smiles were beaming across those lovely elder faces.

Oohh yes Jules i remember those penpal days. Twas fun to hear stories of friends who have friends from other places .. it just made me smile remembering those days when letter writing entails a lot of efforts and love..how i miss those days😉😉😉
