Around The World With Cupid

 Around the World With Cupid

Valentine’s Day is so far away

happens every February or so they say

but as early as May, Cupid is on a mission

spread love, not hate, even isolation

come end of May he will travel

to South China sea and Seatle

on with his tiny bow and arrow

off he will fly with so much sorrow

bearing the weight and pain of Asians

insulted, humiliated among others

from being spat and verbally abused

to physical assault and harassed

one month may not be enough, Cupid says

so he’ll negotiate and let his team stays

for both countries to come in agreement

what to do and make a commitment

off by mid of June maybe, cupid goes

visits a special lady, love he bestows

to her on a special day they call a birthday

for she deserves more love on that day

July will be a busier month, as Cupid

flies off to NorthPole, in high speed

for his annual meet up with Santa Claus

and the whole gang, preparing for Christmas

Cupid will sprinkle magical dust of love

to all deserving kids, with material gifts and love

some adults will get their heart’s desire

upon Cupid’s approval for sure

July, August, September, three months

that’s how much time Cupid needs for once

in Northpole with Santa and the Gang

to prepare for Christmas; the world with a big bang

October, Cupid flies to ten different places

to ensure love is in the air, for their annual festivities

with an aura of magic and mystique, Massachusettes

infamous 17th-century witch hunt celebrates

off to Germany, cupid goes for the Rubber Duck Race

then Portugal celebrates Republic Day with grace

there is Nagasaki Kunchi Festival in Japan

a multicultural festival over 400 years span

from Japan, Cupid will race to the farthest Brazil

The Cirio de Nazare, 2 million participate in this festival

then, off to America for the World Series league

a fun time of the year for the baseball fan league

October for sure is a busy month, Cupid goes to Greenland

for arguably the coolest marathon ever to take inland

then off to beautiful land India for the festival of lights

where Indians place rows of clay lamps outside their homes

there is the Masskara festival, the city of smiles in the Philippines

heartwarming festival with smiley masks and colorful adornments

then there is the trick or treat Halloween happening all over

the world, Cupid will surely be grateful for the fun in store

with his hectic trip in October, Cupid needs a break by November

and wait with deep love and gratitude for the month of December

for January will be the biggest most anticipated month for Cupid

as he prepares for the love month of February, gonna be good

to spread love wherever he goes is Cupid’s ultimate mission

especially love, love of two hearts, two souls vowed to be together

for better or worse, till death do they part

we are Cupid’s greatest accomplishment, my love, my life

Day 9 NaPoWriMo 2021

The prompt for the day is to write a poem in the form of a “to-do list.” The fun of this prompt is to make it the “to-do list” of an unusual person or character. For example, what’s on the Tooth Fairy’s to-do list? Or on the to-do list of Genghis Khan? Of a housefly? Your list can be a mix of extremely boring things and wild things. For example, maybe Santa Claus needs to order his elves to make 7 million animatronic Baby Yoda dolls, to have his hat dry-cleaned to get off all the soot it picked up last December, and to get his head electrician to change out the sparkplugs on Rudolph’s nose.

  1. Loved the list poem – but the Asian hate that has reared its ugly head strikes at my heart… Cupid is going to need some really big arrows to change some people’s hearts and minds! (Thought to be honest I haven’t seen anything in my area – but we are a college town with more diversity than some other areas, and we’re nice people around here!)

    1. Oh, yes Val, I dont know what’s goin on but its really scary as i know a lot of Asians who have been victims of this current “hate trend”…its scary…
Thank you so much Val for highligting that issue.

  2. I didn’t know Cupid was so busy!! 😀
Love needs to spread without hesitation or blame for what might have been… (or was the fault of a few).
Forgiveness is a gift that doesn’t need a bow. And would really make things run smoother …only if…

  3. Cupid is busy. What a big and important To Do List. More love around the world is needed. (Hearing well-seasoned song in my head…”what the world needs now is love sweet love, it’s the only thing there’s just too little of…not just for some, but for everyone…” 🙂
Love is taught…it’s a choice…let’s chose it every day…speak of it, model it, live it, exude it…ETC. ❤
Powerful poem of Love's journeys, SweetMich! ❤ Thank you for writing it and sharing it! 🙂
PS…I have relatives who are Chinese and Korean…and have experienced hate this past year. 😦

    1. Thank you so much and yes what we really need is the choice to love. My heart bleeds for our Asian brothers and sisters out there who are being assaulted physically and verbally 😔😔😔

Keep safe Carolyn, you and your family and relatives🙏🙏🙏
