The Break Up Poem

Good evening (or morning, or afternoon) dear friends and poets.
.
I am venturing out on a bit darker side of love poetry.
How would you like my next poetry book to be? Share your thoughts with me, i’d love to hear them
.
.
The Break Up Poem

i could write the most heartbreaking breakup poem
the one that would make you curse love and its complexities
the kind that would make you run away from love the moment it knocks on your door
the one that would make you sigh in disbelief and cry in agony
the kind that would make you hate cupid for even inventing it

but baby i won’t, truth is complications is what made love worth trying
truth is you made me embrace love joyfully back into my life
truth is i sighed with joy and cried in gratitude
truth is i believed cupid is the cutest creature ever existed

but why my love, whatever happens to us?
whatever happens to the promises we made?
whatever happens to the memories we shared?
whatever happens to the future we dreamt?
whatever happens to our forever?

you said i didn’t love you
how is giving up a part of myself not loving?
how is wanting the best for you not loving?
how is actively listening to you not loving?
how is checking on you not loving?
how is making time for you not loving?
how is showing appreciation to all that you do not loving?
how is not sweating on the small stuff not loving?
how is making time for your loved ones not loving?
if this ain’t love then tell me what it is

i could write the most heartbreaking breakup poem
and curse you to death for giving up on me
just as when i thought you wouldn’t
the one the would tear you apart, break your heart and soul
the kind that would make you regret leaving me
the kind that would make you cry out for salvation

but baby i won’t, truth is i love you with all my heart
even if you believe i don’t,
even if you think maybe it wasn’t enough
or maybe, just maybe i am not the one you needed
for whatever it takes, i love you nevertheless
and if i may say, i love you to the moon and back

Dies of Love (A Blitz Poem)

Dies of Love (A Blitz Poem)

heart cries
heart dies
dies in vain
dies in pain
pain of hoping
pain of losing
losing you in hindsight
losing you outright
outright i go
outright i cry
cry in agony
cry a river
river bank
river wild
wild lament
wild weep
weep bad
weep hard
hard to believe
hard to accept
accept facts
accept truth
truth you share
truth you bare
bare naked
bare soul
soul searching
soul peircing
peircing my veins
peircing my body
body aches
body cries
cries for hope
cries for love
love eternally
love forever
forever i long
forever i adore
adore and admire
adore and cherish
cherish recollection
cherish memories

memories of togetherness
memories of dreams
dreams forgotten
dreams stolen
stolen love
stolen hope
love
hope

For Val’s Scavenger Hunt, Blitz Poem on Death

thank you Val for hosting the August Scavenger Hunt, I had fun writing all the prompts

This form of poetry is a stream of short phrases and images with repetition and rapid flow.

Begin with one short phrase, it can be a clichรฉ. Begin the next line with another phrase that begins with the same first word as line 1. The first 48 lines should be short, but at least two words.

The third and fourth lines are phrases that begin with the last word of the 2nd phrase, the 5th and 6th lines begin with the last word of the 4th line, and so on, continuing, with each subsequent pair beginning with the last word of the line above them, which establishes a pattern of repetition.

Continue for 48 total lines with this pattern, And then the last two lines repeat the last word of line 48, then the last word of line 47.

The title must be only three words, with some sort of preposition or conjunction joining the first word from the third line to the first word from the 47th line, in that order.

There should be no punctuation. When reading a BLITZ, it is read very quickly, pausing only to breathe.

Oops, You Did It Again!

shock, oh my senses when i heard the news

kindly tell me how did it happen

you bet on our house over your addiction, yes?

under what circumstances should you think i forgive you then?

really, dear, you have the audacity to do it

you are unbelievable, yet there you are promising again

  2. For Val’s Harrisham Rhyme on forgiveness https://murisopsis.wordpress.com/2021/07/30/looking-for-an-august-scavenger-hunt/

The elements of the Harrisham Rhyme are:

  1. a hexastich, a poem in six lines.
  2. written with meter or syllable count at the discretion of the poet.
  3. rhymed, ababab.
  4. written with sort of chain at the beginning of each line. The last letter of the first word of each line is the first letter of the first word of the next line. The first word of the poem may begin with any letter.

Lost

I’ve traveled to many places
wondered and wandered
over life, love
and “what could have been’s”
I was once lost

lost

lost in the wilderness
lost in the crowd
lost in my own pursuits
of “happily -ever- after”
of “dreams-do-come-true”

and

somewhere along the way
I was stuck, stuck and couldn’t
find my way, navigating was harder than ever
re-routing maybe the only way, but even then
road blocks were heavier, mightier than
any of my will power

until

somewhere in between
heavy rains and clouded skies,
beyond the horizon just beneath the rainbow
where they say a pot of gold rests, where no man
has ever ventured, I found, not a pot of gold

but, you

and, together we got lost
over gentle kisses and sweet embraces
over smiles and sighs and reliefs
over pieces of thoughtful memories
over love and dreams and plans

oh babe

let’s be lost together, forever

Coffee Magic

it’s the sweet-bitter sensation
that makes coffee magic and an illusion
it confuses the sensitive palate
it diffuses an angry heart
it calms a desolate soul

as for me, my love
i miss coffee with you
but i miss making
you coffee the most

i don’t have to deal
with my sensitive palate
you make my palate highly
youthful, delicate to your after coffee kiss

i don’t have to deal with my angry heart
you make my heart triumphantly joyful
every time you give me a loving gaze
before you sip your coffee

i don’t have to deal with my desolate soul
you make my soul fearless, steadfast
whenever you wrap your arms around me
while enjoying your afternoon coffee

i miss coffee, but i miss
making you one the most

My Dearest Muse

there are many things ’bout us that i will never forget,
no matter how i try, i won’t, i bet
just as there are many reasons why i love you
i love you for all the faith you have in me
for all the times you made me see
the things i can’t seem to believe in me
but there’s one thing i love the most ’bout you
you stayed by my side even when i was giving up on you, you never gave up on me, on our love
you never gave up on us

there are many things ’bout us that i will never forget,
no matter how i try, i won’t, i bet
just as there are over a hundred million love songs
and i won’t forget the ones i sing along with you
just as there are many love poems i love and i wrote
but i love the most the ones i wrote with you
and i love you for all the times you made me write verses that made us smile,
verses that made us cry,
verses that made us giggle like children
verses that made it on the bestsellers collection

there are many things ’bout us that i will never forget,
no matter how i try, i won’t, i bet
just as there are many occasions i was wrong
and i won’t forget the many times you forgave me and just smiled
and i love you for all the joys, the smiles you gave me
for all the times you pushed me hard, so hard
because you believe in me, more than i believe in myself,
you showed me the most loving,
the most caring, the most daring
version of me i never thought i had

there are many things ’bout us that i will never forget,
no matter how i try, i won’t, i bet
just as there are many reasons i love you
but i love you the most because you never gave up on me even when, at times, i was so rough on you, you could have walked away,
packed your things and left, just left,
but you stayed, you stayed
even if there seemed no more
reasons to stay

you never gave up on me, that
i will never forget, no matter how i try,
i won’t, i bet

P.S.

My 5th poetry book ” I Will Love You Forever, Too” is still on Amazon top 100 Best Seller on Poetry About Love.

Thank you all so much!!!

Journey

’twas a roller coaster ride of emotions

and an arduous, strenuous journey

roadblocks and obstacles were always on the way

but, i never back out, i never retreat

even come rain and sunshine, i just travel

nor come hell and heaven, i just proceed

*****************************

the unfamiliar is a dangerous place to proceed

my strength was tested even my emotions

the voyage to the unknown was a daunting travel

with my courage and determination, i continue my journey

it was such a relief, a great retreat

for i know there is always, the path to the right way

*****************************

careful analysis and investigation lead me the way

i was firm, i was strong, i moved forward, and proceed

the goal is to advance, to continue, never to retreat

even when doubt was in, i held on to my emotions

at the end of the day, i know i will find my way

i went farther, i took the chance, i just travel

******************************

i took the hardest route and travel

the easy road was surely never the best way

i chose wisely which path to take as i journey

was ready to face the consequences as i proceed

even though never know what lies ahead, it might challenge my emotions

however it will be, i will never look back, i will never retreat

****************************

i took the hardest way to you, i never back down, i never retreat

knowing you will be there at the end of my travel

my courage was tested, at least even my emotions

i remained resilient and focused on my way

‘cos i know there is no other way but to move, to proceed

’twasn’t easy, ’twasn’t fun, but i love my journey

***********************

yet somehow, it has just begun, my journey

but come what may, i will never back down, never retreat

come hell or heaven i will proceed

come rain or sunshine i will travel

not even roadblocks or obstacles can stop my way

it sure will be another roller coaster ride of emotions

********************

i swear i will move on and travel

no amount of trials could stop my way

i am ready, i am strong, so as my emotions

Prompt – A Sestina on Exploration

 A Sestina form

A sestina consists of six stanzas of six unrhyming lines followed by an envoi of three lines. The lines are almost always of regular length and are usually in iambic pentameter โ€“ an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one (iambic) and with lines of ten syllables, five of them stressed (pentameter). The words at the end of each line are repeated in a different order from stanza to stanza:

  • Stanza 1: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
  • Stanza 2: 6, 1, 5, 2, 4, 3
  • Stanza 3: 3, 6, 4, 1, 2, 5
  • Stanza 4: 5, 3, 2, 6, 1, 4
  • Stanza 5: 4, 5, 1, 3, 6, 2
  • Stanza 6: 2, 4, 6, 5, 3, 1
  • Envoi: 5, 3, 1 or (less commonly) 1, 3, 5 or 2, 4, 6

This is one of my poetry roadblocks (avoiding it for so long) and I am finally giving it a go

I am not sure if this is good enough though..

Reality Bites

in a gathering of friends and more
we hear them talk, of their promotions of sort
a new car on the way, a new house to stay
a planned holiday, a great time off

in a gathering of friends and more
no one will talk of an annoying neighbor
or a nosy mother in law, just no one
or an abusive partner, just no one

in a gathering of friends and more
we saw them give their best smiles
parade their most expensive clothes
show off a new designer bag
or a sparkling diamond ring

in a gathering of friends and more
we hear the best, we see the good
until it’s over, the gathering
of friends and more

then reality bites,
they took off their masks
faces the mirror, they see a reflection
a reflection of what’s not to be

Cry ‘Till There’s None

wash your fears, cleanse your inhibitions,
sweep your worries with tears away
so you may see how love can be
smarter than anyone would know
larger than anyone could see
cry it all out, let it fall, let it flow,
until it goes, until there’s none

give yourself a break, take a step back
walk behind closely but never too close to suffocate
walk behind farther but not too far to disintegrate
just take a break, so you may see
how love has changed
cry it all out, let it fall, let it flow,
until it goes, until there’s none

just cry it all out, let it fall, let it flow,
until it goes, until there’s none
even the best falls down sometimes
even the finest turns hideous for a while
even the greatest tumbles down for sure

even i get tired too
even love gets exhausted

so cry a river, let the birds sing along with your wailing, let the wind blow you a gentle kiss,
let the trees protect your broken heart, let the melody of nature heal your tormented soul
let it all out, let it fall, let it flow,
until it goes, until there’s none

just cry, just cry, just cry
until there is none

Breathe

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’• Happy Sunday dear friends and poets…

.

Still grateful for all you love and support.

“I Will Love You Forever, Too” is now available via paperback in Amazon

if i am to breathe my last breath, i’d inhale the first air i gasped the day i laid my eyes on you, ‘cos darling in my last moment  i’d love to be reminded of how you breathe life into my soul, into my heart; would it be then too much to ask “God, let my death wish be, to see you smile as i go”.
