Thank You

i don’t know how
i don’t why
we bonded over words
over rhythms and rhymes
over lines and verses
across the seas
beyond the borders

i send my love
my admiration
my appreciation
for all that you are
and all that we share
across the seas
beyond the borders

i thank you all
for all the love
for all the support
for all the gentle nudge
the push, the encouragement
across the seas
beyond the borders

and with a heart full of gratitude
i thank you all, over and over
over a million times, over a million
rhythms and rhymes, over lines and verses
across the seas beyond the borders

“We learned about gratitude and humility – that so many people had a hand in our success” – Michelle Obama

WordPress has been and will forever be my “Poetry Home”. I started blogging here in 2013 with just basically a handful of followers and likers. Blogging for me then was simply my outlet for my creative mind. My blog was my virtual self.

I learned over time that when you are true to yourself and when you encourage love and positivity your “circle”, your “community” will grow. And I did grow. I learned from the best WP poets and writers and bloggers.

And it was my WP friends who encouraged me to write and publish my first book. Now, with five poetry books published and 2 Amazon bestsellers, I am and forever grateful to my WP family.

Kate asked us to write a Paean (a song of praise or triumph) https://aroused.blog/2021/09/22/paean/

This Paean is dedicated to my WP family.

Loneliness Too

With almost 8 billion people in the world, how could anyone be lonely, and yet any of us may feel “transient” loneliness though and that’s undeniable.
.
Loneliness Too

.
can we measure love by numbers?
can we tell when it’s less or more than enough?
can we scream in great despair when hurt?
can we wallow in deep agony when in pain?

can we measure loneliness by numbers?
can we cry in volume when it’s too much?
can we silence our hearts when we could bear no more?
can we tamper our soul when it’s too heavy?

maybe “yes”
maybe “no”
i really don’t know
but
my dear know that my love for you is immeasurable, not by numbers,
not even by deeds,
nor by an act of kindness

i love you with the kind of love i know
i love you with the amount of love my heart could carry, and that’s why my love
my heart screams loneliness when i am not with you, the kind of loneliness that can never be calculated

by numbers or by volume
my loneliness is mine, and mine alone to feel
my loneliness is present, evident even in
the most endearing, the most passionate,
the most romantic love poem i write
because my pen is bleeding in pain
because my muse is crying in vain,
because my mind is spinning,
and my heart stops beating love

Blue

Blue

blue is the sunshine since you’ve been gone
and it sure feels cold even with the hot blazing sun
i keep second guessing, how long ’till my body temperature drops
and my heart stops working normally
for baby, without you is colder than the coldest cold
and missing you is bluer than the bluest blue

blue is the horizon since i saw you last
and it sure feels lonely and alone for even the birds begun to sing in a melancholic chorus tone
i keep thinking, how long ’till sorrow takes over
and misery slowly, quietly move closer to me
for baby, without you is colder than the coldest cold
and missing you is bluer than the bluest blue

blue is the moon since we kissed goodbye
and it sure feels like oblivion even with night’s
starry sky
i keep anticipating, how long ’till my mind lost control
of my sanity, my balance, my prudence
for baby, without you is colder than than coldest cold
and missing you is bluer than the bluest blue

blue is my life without your kiss
blue is my feeling without your touch
blue, is all that i am without you by my side

Baby, I Need You

I have been MIA for a little while, I miss y’all.. and so today’s poem is in honor and in celebration of “everything” and “everyone” we’ve all missed so badlly.
.
Baby, I Need You
.
baby i need you like the rhythm needs a rhyme
together, they make the perfect partners in melody crime
baby i need you as the singer needs a song together, they make the absolute musical deal
.
baby i need you like the pen needs the paper together, they make the flawless keeper of secrets
baby i need you as the line needs a word or two together, they make a faultless verse
.
baby i need you like the plot needs a twist together, they make an ideal denouement
baby i need you as the writer needs inspiration, together, they make an excellent
storyteller
.
baby i need you in many ways you may not even be aware of, but most of all
baby i, need you as the poet needs a muse
together, we make the quintessential epic poetry duo, an absolute literary genius
.
“everybody needs someone, and i need you”

Dreams do come true. Believe. Work hard. Be good. Be Kind. It will happen when you deserve it. TRUST ME. Mine happened just as i thought it won’t.
.
I never gave up. I never stopped believeing in dreams.
.
I never stopped being kind and generous (even when people around me were/are not), because my papa once said “your dreams will come true when you least expect it and when you don’t allow outside forces to ruin the good that you have in your heart; God will see that and eventually HE will give you your heart’s greatest desire”.
.
So, dream on my fellow poets 💕💕💕

Mom

Mom

it was not so long ago, when you were holding my little hand, guiding every step of my way
every moment, was a moment to remember
a moment so fun, so dear
i learned to navigate the world through your gentle hands, through your brilliant mind,
through your compassionate heart
ours was a “love – hate” affair but never was there a time that you surrender

how long has it been?
i can’t remember, i really can’t
my ageing mind won’t wanna work backwards
won’t even wanna work on dates, and i think
it doesn’t matter, for now, i am in charge
of tiny little hands too, the ones whose lives
depend on how i will guide them through thier  ways, and i can’t help but be grateful, for the mother that you were to me when i was little

i am the mother that i am now because of you

I Didn’t Know

Happiest and grandest Sunday dear friends and poets.
.
Today’s poem is the complete/full text of my trilogy poem series.
.
.
I Didn’t Know
.
Beauty
.
i didn’t know leaves could dance gracefully as the wind blows upon the signal of the monsoon rain while it pitter-patters on the roof
i didn’t know loud rumbling thunder could sound like a love song; so gentle and so sweet
i didn’t know a tremendous flash of lightning could look like fireworks at night, flashing spectacular lights in jubilant celebration
i didn’t see the beauty in them until the day i found you
i didn’t know beauty as much as I knew it when i had you
.
Butterflies
.
i didn’t know butterflies ever lived inside me waiting to fly, waiting to soar
until the day i saw you, i felt fluttering sensations
as if a million little butterflies were screaming, wanting to be freed
every single cell in my body was churning, cramping, feeling anxious, shaking, shivering, twitching by just the sight of you,
i didn’t know butterflies could live in my stomach until i saw you
i didn’t know butterflies could go crazy, as crazy as they became when i had you
.
Burned
.
i didn’t know love could be magical and enchanting and bewitching, until the day you took my hand by the door, gently
caressing my hair, your eyes
with a loving steady gaze, and then slowly you moved closer to me, i felt the warmth of your body, the tenderness of your lips, the fire in your heart giving me burning sensations
then i was burned, burned down to ashes by your touch, by your embrace, by your kiss
i didn’t know i could get burned by love until
i was burned, burned by your love

Burned

Happy Saturday dear friends and poets.
.
Today’s poem is the final installment of my trilogy poetry series called “I Didn’t Know”
.
This is my first venture on series poetry. Series poetry feature recurring characters and/or settings, often with a common tone as well. Serial poetry therefore takes an initial idea and expands on it over time, rather like episodes in a television show.
