After Dark

After Dark

raging storm, i am
as i tuck myself to bed
waiting for my goodnight sleep to come

restless, my heart is
as my emotions run wildly distressed
the pitch dark night is my sole silent witness

chaotic, my mind is
as my thoughts are in absolute clutter
the unseen moonlight could be my only hope

i am a raging storm; restless, chaotic
in dire need of a quiet refuge and sanctuary
salvage me, from my total shambles

Wow. I think I’ve had a few nights like that too. You really drew me into the emotion and turmoil! (I kept thinking there would be some word of love and comfort but no!)

  9. You’ve captured something all humans experience. We understand your emotions in your poem. Isn’t it interesting how the dark can bring about the most intense emotions, thoughts, and wonderings. And then everything can look so much better when the sun rises. 🙂
Of course, it’s the best when we have someone who sits beside us (physically or in spirit) as a refuge when the storms, restlessness, and chaos try to smother us. ❤
Amazing and powerful poem, SweetMich! ❤

We often get used to what the night is around us. Always harder when we are not in our own beds, I think. Thinking of good things… could help?
