Helen of Troy is a figure from Greek mythology whose elopement with (or abduction by) the Trojan prince Paris sparked off the Trojan War. Helen was the wife of Menelaus, the king of Sparta, and considered the most beautiful woman in the world.
Here is my poetic tribute to Helen, in conjunction with the celebration of Women’s Month.

if silence had a voice it would have screamed a million battle cries and if Helen of Troy had a choice she would have made a statement when she was stripped down and displayed for men of war to choose. kidnapped by Paris, or did she willingly escape? if words could be wounded it would have bled a thousand sudden deaths and if Helen of Troy had a choice she would have rather died than flee away and set off a war of ten years array. did she find happiness and love on the way? if Helen of Troy had lived she could have inspired millions of beautiful women around in search of love and acceptance with dignity to behold worthy of love untold. would you rather scream silently or bleed profusely? Astonishingly and beautifully written! All the questions women have asked over the millennia and have had to answer for themselves.
