By the Meadow, Upon the Horizon #darkness#writephoto

Note:

there are two different versions of the poem, version 1 is on the happier side and version 2 is most likely on a sadder note

Version #1

by the meadow upon the horizon
I think of you in my fragmented memories
over my splintered forgotten dreams
and shattered broken promises
oh, how they made me smile
smile in relief,
smile, just smile

by the meadow, upon the horizon
I remember you, as nature’s sounds
mingle sweetly in my head
I hear the melody like a street band busking
playing our song, the song that was once
the anthem of our hearts
oh, how they made me cry
cry in joy,
cry, just cry

darkness unfolds, by the meadow
upon the horizon

then, there was you

Version # 2

by the meadow upon the horizon
I sat down and grieve over
our fragmented memories
our splintered, forgotten dreams
our shattered, broken promises,
oh, how my heart cries
in desperation

by the meadow upon the horizon
I sat down and weep as i
listen silently to the
sound of nature like a
street band busking, playing
our sweet, tender love song
our song that was once
the anthem of our souls
oh, how my heart sob
in hopelessness

darkness unfolds
by the meadow, upon the horizon

still, no sign of you

Maybe Someday

maybe someday I will be
your sweetest melody
soothing your lonesome heart
in splendid tranquility
serenading you
just, you

maybe someday I will be
your happiest thought
easing your anxiety
in times of despair
musing you
just, you

maybe someday we will be
writing together,
a love poem duo
on a stopover
in a train station
to Paris

Maybe someday just you and I
by the train station
to Paris

in perfect serendipity.

My World

when
the world
ceased
mine kept goin’
armed with
my mighty pen
and divergent mind
I perceived my world
in a new and different way
finding new patterns
making new connections
turning ideas into reality
making dreams come true

when the
whole world
was grieving
I dared not,
for so many reasons
and the best of
that many reasons
is you
my muse,
my poetry,
my world, and
the love of my life

Many of us have been devastated by the current worldwide pandemic brought about by COVID 19.  some lost their jobs, others were lockdown, while others lost a loved one over the disease or a survivor themselves, but I believe that if there is one common ground that we all share right now is the sad reality that we are apart from our loved ones, friends and even relatives. The strict social distancing policy as part of prevention stops us from seeing or meeting relatives and friends anytime. Unfortunately for others, they have been separated by distance and are unable to travel back home.

This pandemic will run down the history of humanity in as far as it can be recorded. And as devastating as it is, we should not allow this to topple down our spirits, enjoy our lives and have fun with people around us, or in short simply make the most of what we have at the moment, and who we have around.

I have not seen my daughters for months now because of the pandemic, and to say that I miss them is already an understatement because what I feel right now, no amount of words in the dictionary would best fit in to describe.  But nevertheless, life goes on, and we have so many reasons to go on with our lives and make the most out of our current situation.

How am I coping during this pandemic? How I enjoy and have fun with my life in a way most people don’t?

Here are  simple ways you can enjoy and have fun, starting today: (Linking to kate’s Friday Fun – https://aroused.blog/2020/07/11/friday-fun-funny/)

1. Improve your Craft

What are you good at? Cooking? Writing? Painting? Anything that you believed you are good at but just never had the chance to practice and improve due to some obligations and responsibilities that you were committed before the pandemic. If you are a good cook, maybe its time you start a food delivery business. I know of some friends who did that during the pandemic. And they were doing well so far, obviously because people would rather stay at home and order food. Simple to complex menu and dishes are already being ordered and delivered nowadays. If you are a creative person, maybe its time to master your art. There are available online classes that can help you hone your craft.

I turned this pandemic into my greatest advantage, as I have enough time to write. It was during this time that I had made a few international submissions of my poems and have gotten published. If not for the pandemic, I would honestly not have the same opportunity in terms of “time”

2. Just Relax

Find a way to relax and reconnect with ourselves and our inner identity.  Who knows you might actually have already lost your real identity  (https://amanpan.com/2020/07/13/eugis-weekly-prompt-identity-july-13-2020/)because you were so busy dreaming the dreams of other people and chasing career opportunities that were not actually meant for you. So, maybe its time to relax and take a moment to get to know yourself again.

3. Avoid Watching/Reading the News.

There are so much drama and hype online and even offline about the current pandemic. Watching it and following the news every single day, won’t do you good, rather it will add up to your anxiety and will eventually prevent you from being productive.

4. Create Positive Relationships

Make sure you have time to reconnect to people who are making a positive impact on your life. It’s time to identify the ones creating a positive impact and the ones giving you the negative impact, then maybe, nurture those positive relationships and let go of the ones who aren’t doing you good or helping you become a better person.

5. Make a Wish List

Whenever you want to do something, try a new thing, visit a new place, or even simply look for your long lost friend, write it down. Making a list of the things we want and we desire will fuel our hopes that one day we will be able to do it. It makes us dream. And dreams, no matter how big will eventually come true if accompanied by hard work, determination, and proper motivation.

10. Be Active

If you are not a fitness enthusiast, then maybe it’s time you become one. Try yoga, run around your neighborhood, do strength, and toning exercise at home. All these are available online for beginners like you who want to try for the first time. No matter what we say, we all know exercise is and will always be good for our health and our total well being.

11. Be Grateful Always

The pandemic is devastating, yes it’s true. But, there are other things in life that we should be thankful for and grateful for.  Just give thanks, always.

12. Remember Everything Has Its End

The major factor in enjoying life is to accept the fact that no matter what we do and no matter how much we try, some things and circumstances are beyond our control. And so it is important also to remember that the pandemic like anything else will also have its end. We are faced with a very challenging situation, but remember that life is one big cycle of ups and downs.

13. Allow Yourself to be Joyful

I have heard so many people complain about the difficulties of life, and yet they allow themselves to be involved in the drama of life. Maybe it’s time to enjoy a calm, life. Give yourself the chance to enjoy a drama-free life and focus on the simple joys of life every day.

Home Soon

it was though just yesterday
when I used to hold your tiny hands
as we walked  down the stairs
oh, how you confidently
let go, while others cried in despair
for not wanting to

as days became weeks
and weeks became months
I barely noticed how years flew by
‘cos every moment with you
is a loving moment
of memories to keep
of how our world used to be
until the last days of my life

I never leave you behind
never alone
for you, I will adjust my world
reorganize my life
and dream the dreams
you dream

but my child,
our world has changed
and I have to leave you alone
my heart bleeds
and I am lost
lost of words

remember your dream is my dream
and your hope is my hope
for that, I will be home
soon…

The Sun Looks Pretty on Me

NaPoWriMo Day 19

Today, our optional prompt challenges you to write a poem based on a “walking archive.” What’s that? Well, it’s when you go on a walk and gather up interesting things – a flower, a strange piece of bark, a rock. This then becomes your “walking archive” – the physical instantiation of your walk. If you’re unable to get out of the house (as many of us now are), you can create a “walking archive” by wandering around your own home and gathering knick-knacks, family photos, maybe a strange spice or kitchen gadget you never use. Once you’ve finished your gathering, lay all your materials out on a tray table, like museum specimens. Now, let your group of materials inspire your poem!

Today my “walking archive” is composed of a book  “The Sun is Also a Star” and some old newspaper clips on whitening products becoming more popular among Asians.

planets, stars, galaxies, dust clouds,

the universe, all that we
feel and we touch
is part of the

earth is where we are and of
the 7.8 billion population
I am one of them
the lucky one
to have lived

the sun is what I love the most I swear
its blazing, fiery orange-yellow color
when it rises, signifies vibrant
day ahead, then it turns to
eternal yellow as it sets
brings peace as the
day ends in
perfect
bliss

Paulo Coelho -free verse

Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite contemporary authors. His works have influenced me in so many ways and his stories have inspired me as well. I am reposting one of my earliest published poems here in WordPress which I am sure many of my current readers have not read yet.

This is in response to V.J.’s weekly challenge to create a post about a story that has inspired you.

Santiago was a young boy

in 1988 you created him in Alchemist.

I was in my ponytails and pigtails,

in 1988 a little girl so clueless.

twenty years after,

I met Santiago at dinner

he said when you want something

all the universe conspires in helping

Along came Brida

in 1990 you made

a beautiful gypsy girl

whose quest for knowledge is amazing.

I was growing to be like her

in 1990 a high school teenage girl

she said seek for the truth

never be scared for what has been sought

You ventured to the Mojave desert

in 1992 to find the Valkyries who assert

that finding your guardian angel

you need them badly for help

1992  was the year to say

you realized trudging the desert is a dismay

I was walking through another space

like you, in the desert, I race

By the River Piedra, you placed

two lovers in such a maze

In 1994 you proved that love

is indeed like a flying dove

cage it and it will scream to death

but let it go and it will fly back with great faith

I was searching for the same passion

yet I let go and move on with fashion

Elijah an obedient angel in 1997

you created with pride and a great sense

You proved once more that obedience

is such a value forgotten with negligence

I entered college as a freshman

in academe where there was no man

to focus on my dreams

and be like Elijah on the Fifth Mountain

In 1997 Veronica decides to die

a perfect lady who commits suicide

Confided in an asylum for a while

she sees the whole world in a different style

I was a young mother then, I tangled

caring and nurturing as I struggled

I see the world different as it used to be

with a baby, at hand, I disregard being me

In 2000 the Devil meets Ms. Prym

taking responsibilities and actions in rhyme

She said our conduct is a matter of control and choice

indeed as I battle with my own evil’s choice

I made things right by then

fulfilling my dreams is what I mean

Truly we battle every day in the life

between good and evil we continue to strife

Maria in 2003 was born

in Eleven Minutes you’ve shown

true love is  being with someone

without possessing no one

I was already focused and stable

with my family complete on the table

It might take eleven minutes to stop

and proclaim your life on top

The Witch of Portobello in 2006 came to be

searching for one true self in the beginning

She said opening up to the energies of the world

is one thing we should withstand and behold

I have matured and become successful

but continues to reach out to fulfill

a life of stability and contentment

lies in opening oneself and atonement

Indeed the Winner Stands Alone

in 2008 you created in tone

With the rise of the superclass

born Ewa, Igor, and Hamid who falls

I was torn between work and family

choosing the latter made life lovely

As  Igor, Ewa and Hamid fell defeated

I stood triumphantly even when I’m seated

2010 came, Aleph you discovered

a point where the whole universe is contained

Hilal you met and converse

in Aleph your only universe

I have found my Aleph too

in the arms of the one who truly knew

in sickness and in health indeed

true love once the world forbid

P.S.

This is more or less a summary of all the novels and characters written and created by Paulo Coelho.

Balance- free verse

When you are complete

and feel you have that perfect

sense of harmony

no amount of distraction

nor a mighty burden

will ever topple you down

from standing on your toes

perfectly balanced

Not your Average Girl (part 2)- free verse

perfection-quote

She doesn’t don’t know how to act
but with a sense of urgency

She doesn’t know how to care
without thinking too much and feeling too much

She doesn’t know how to be quiet and sit still and allow her mind to settle

She is always asking, experiencing, struggling and finding meaning

She is passionate and misunderstood of being finicky rather than simply striving for excellence

She is an artist, deep, creative
And not your average girl

Word/expression of the week – finicky – (adjective) – fussy about one’s needs or requirements. Showing or requiring great attention to detail. Synonyms – overcritical, difficult, awkward, exacting, demanding, a perfectionist.

Little Things – free verse

With every little thing you do
And with every little smile, you gave
I am in awe
I am in wonder

With every little love you share
And with every little light, you shed
I am delighted
I am honored

With that little thing you do
And little love you share
I am gratified
I am pleased.
