Sunset Upon The Horizon

i am grateful for the sun and how it sets magicaly upon the horizon
it’s like rhyming the last verse of my poetry
ending with the perfect combination of
rhythm and rhyme
a captivating nourishment for my ever thirsty poetic soul

i am grateful for the sun and how it sets enchantingly upon the horizon
it’s like humming the most romantic love song
with its soothing and calming melody
bringing a restful respite
to my wary soul

i am grateful for the sun and how it sets entrancingly upon the horizon
it’s like coming home to your tender kisses, with the warmth of you embrace
gifting my heart with the passion it so long wanted

i am grateful for the sun and how it reminds me
of you, of our love, born upon one fateful afternoon as it sets spellbindingly upon the horizon

there was you
there was me

and the sunset

Come, Sit With Me (my princess)

come sit with me

let’s talk about

how things used to be

when the world was better

and things were nicer

when a walk in the beach

alongside a crowd

was full of fun

bumping at each other

making new friends

along the way

when watching

the sunset

was so much joy

while arguing as who

had the best shot

or who captured

the raging red-orange color

transitioned into a soft

pale yellow hue

as the sky awaits

for night

to take over

and when darkness

sweep over

I’d lay my head on your shoulder

as we watch the world in

beautiful, complete chaos

the waves came crashing

the wind is blowing

slowly

carefully

drifting

into a goodnight sleep

P.S.

I bet this is how my afternoon conversation with my father be like, if he is still alive, with the current pandemic. He will remind me of how we would hurry down the beach (in Boracay, we spent so many summers there) just to witness the crowd gathered waiting for the sunset. We had by then the traditional camera, each of us will try our luck for one best sunset shot which we will only get to see the following day because we need to bring it to the shop for printing purposes.

I am Yours

I Am Yours
I can go anywhere
and I can be lost
somewhere
but all I ever wanna be
is where you are
and be lost in your arms
for can I see
rainbows
and bursts of sunshine
and butterflies
all through your eyes
and it doesn’t
matter where you are
for I am yours
and you
are mine

This is a photo taken by my lovely daughter Allana, sunset along the highway of Perak. We called it “gloomy sunset”, contrary to the usual bold yellow, or bold red sunsets. Even the sunset is looking sad and gloomy, considering all of what’s happening lately. And even the sunset is missing the world that it used to be; vibrant, happy, jolly, and just full of energy and love.

It is in the same way when we miss somebody. Missing someone is the worst and best feeling one could ever have.  It is the worst feeling because you know you cannot do anything about it, but wait with butterflies in your stomach for the moment you will be together again. It is the best feeling because missing a person is a guarantee that you truly love and are in love with the person.  And as you miss your beloved you know that you too are being missed and remembered.

Amidst the COVID 19 crisis, when everyone else seems to panic and worry, let us all just pause for a while and be reminded of the many good things we have. And for as long as we keep in mind and practice all the necessary precautionary measures given and directed by our local health providers, we will be fine.

And as this crisis escalates we just need to feel our love for all of our loved ones who cannot be with us because of travel bans and travel restrictions.

Let us feel their love and our love in return in every single moment we remember and we miss them.

We pray and we believe and that in time, the world will again be a better place to live.

Keep the love burning. Keep missing your love ones  ❤❤❤

Keep the faith and believe that miracles do happen 😊😊😊

Kiss

Kiss

I.

I wondered sweetly
on a lazy sunny afternoon
as you lay
in my bed with a smile
and eyes closed for a while
I could kiss you and feel
the touch of your lips on mine
but dreaded the thought
of waking you up to my dear
so I slowly caress your face
and feel the warmth of your skin
unto the palm of my hand

Chorus:

Did I ever get the chance  to tell you, how lovely you look that day
and would it be too late to say
that I loved you then
and love you now?

II.

I wondered if I ever get to hold you
in my arms so close
and listen to your heartbeats
in the same rhythm as mine
I watched you breath slowly
as your body moves
in a manner so gentle and smooth
and many times I was tempted
to steal a kiss from you that day
but baby, I didn’t ‘cos I want you
to see me smile as I kiss you
with my arms wrap around you
so tight, then we could slow dance
in our make-believe song

Chorus:

Did I ever get the chance  to tell you, how lovely you look that day
and would it be too late to say
that I loved you then
and love you now?

Bridge:

let’s kiss and stay and don’t you ever go away

A stunning shot of the sunset by my equally stunning 😊daughter, Allana.

They say the best stories of love happens over a sunset, along the highway or in just in the comfort of your own home. And I read somewhere that someday you will find someone who will watch every sunrise with you until the sunset of your life.

To all my readers and followers who missed my random lyric writing posts, here’s one for you.

I hope you hum along with the melody with me and smile as we enjoy and navigate into the world of the characters in the song😊😊😊

Feel the love, believe in love ❤❤❤

Amidst all the health scare we are currently facing, one song, one smile, one kiss, or maybe one great love story could be a better way to start our day,  ’till we make it through the sunset.

Ode to the Sunset (in Bali)

Ode To The Sunset (in Bali)

20191227_182636

oh, sun so beautiful
when you set
you silenced
everyone
in a place so crowded
they gaze and marvel at you
with intense in all its glory
while I stood quietly
in awe
in amazement
in wonder
you make my heartbeat
one with the waves splashing
and for the first time in a long while
you calm the storm raging in me
my heart that was once in fury
is now tempered.

oh, sun so beautiful when you set
you bring the magic back in me.

Photos are of beautiful (beautiful is not even enough to describe it) sunset in Bali.

Bali has long been a popular travel destination,  known for its beautiful beaches, great food, and incredibly welcoming ( and I meant it with all my heart) people.

Another big Bali draw is the sunset and the plethora of stunning locations to watch them from. No visit to the island is complete without gazing from a beach, a cliff, or jungle as the sun disappears into a colorful haze.

Apart from the magnificent sunset, I noticed that though the beach is crowded, yet not a noise was made as we all wait for the sun to set. The world stops for a moment. It was so quiet;  so quiet we only hear the wind blowing and the waves splashing.

P.S.

You can now add writing poetry to your “must-do list in Bali”.  Find a spot amidst the crowd and write.
